Bacon has been a staple of breakfast food for many years now. However, many people think that the only way to cook bacon is to fry it in a pan, but that just simply isn’t true. There are many ways to cook bacon that don’t require frying, and this list will show you just a few of them.
Cook it in the oven
This choice is the best when you’re cooking more than a pound of bacon for a party or a big Sunday brunch. It’s convenient and easy, and most importantly it leaves your stove top free.
Preheat your oven to about 400 decrees and lay the bacon on a foil lined baking sheet. Bake the bacon for about 15-20 minutes depending on the thickness of it. Use a pair of tongs to move the slices to a platter to drain and finish crisping.
Cook it in the microwave
This is the best method for making just a few slices of bacon, like a few strips to crumble over a salad or to make a bacon and egg sandwich in a hurry. The pitfall to this method is that it uses up a lot of paper towels, but the cleanup is quick with zero splatter, and you don’t have to worry about handling hot grease.
All you need to do is line a few sheets of paper towels in the microwave with your strips of bacon, and microwave 1 minute per slice of bacon.
Although this method can be a bit harsh with the popping of the fat in the pan, if you drain the fat you don’t have to worry about your bacon swimming in a pool of its own grease.
Place the bacon in a cold pan, then turn on the heat to about medium. Keep flipping the bacon, and be sure to drain it in between batches.
