You probably already heard that eating fish is very good and have many benefits. It is low on calories, rich in protein and fish meat contains high levels of omega 3 fatty acids. Because our body cannot produce omega 3s, it is important to have a recommended intake of them. If you don’t like eating fish, there are good news. You only need to eat it once or twice a week, in order to have enough intake of omega 3 fatty acids. If you are one of those people that don’t eat animal products, you can satisfy your need with omega-3 DHA/fish oil supplements.

Beside those nutrients, fish prevents heart disease. One study found that women who don’t eat fish or eat it in small quantities, have 50% more chance for developing some heart disease than women who eat fish often. Fish is also useful for your brain. According to one study conducted by Radiological Society of North America, people who eat fish only once a week, boiled or baked, no fried, have the better learning capacity and better memory. It is believed that fish can be useful in preventing Alzheimer’s disease. Eating fish only once a week can preserve your gray matter neutron. This area of the brain is linked to cognition and memory.

If you want to have clean skin and more beautiful hair, omega 3 fatty acids can help you achieve that! It is especially useful during the low-fat diets! Another benefit is linked to depression. According to one study, pregnant women who took 300 mg omega 3 fatty acids capsule, had reduced risk of postpartum depression. Even for people, who take antidepressants, omega 3 fatty acids can improve the effect of medications.
